In the past, I have coached, taught P.E. and tutored for several years; although my current passion is in teaching first grade.
Above all, I focus upon my students' skill mastery. So, to achieve this goal, I plan for interactive lessons that are both direct and fun. I integrate as many engaging games as possible, especially during centers. In the classroom, I am usually enthusiastically modeling! So to counter-balance my theatrical nature, I prefer to use clear and intelligible fonts, clip art, etc., in my downloads.
I am humbled each time I witness a student having an "A-Ha" moment. Furthermore, I am grateful for the opportunity to reach students all over the world! So honestly, every download is an award.
In 1993, I participated in the World Scholar-Athlete Games, and was awarded a college scholarship. My Bachelor of Science degree is in Communications, and I was an on-air talent for many years after college. I have coached both girls and boys volleyball from the elementary up through the collegiate levels, and later taught P.E. Finally, through completion of the ABCTE alternative certification program, I am blessed to be teaching some remarkable first graders.
My name is Cori, and I come from a drama and teaching background. My mother was a model-turned entrepreneur, my father was an actor-turned college professor, my step-mother taught high school English for 30 years, and my grandmother taught first grade her entire life. I moved a bit as a child, as my parents were both in the military. But in turn, I was fortunate to have traveled the world from a young age. All in all, my greatest accomplishment is having my two wonderful children, and learning life's lessons through the eyes of a mother. I pray that God continues to bless them each day of their lives. And to my little turtle doves: I hope you dance!
