TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I am currently in my 19th year of teaching. I began my career in the Gwinnett County school system teaching 4th grade. After 2 years in 4th, I moved to 5th grade to stay. After teaching at Norton Elementary for over 10 years, I moved to the Atlanta Public School system to teach 5th grade at Morningside Elementary. I am now in my 3rd year teaching at Sarah Smith Elementary in APS.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I believe that students should explore learning themselves as much as possible. I use literature circles, guided reading groups, and projects in content areas as much as I can. Students read books of their choosing with guidance from me. I differentiate for level and interest often in all areas. We use a lot of technology, and I love using my promethean board for student interaction and to make my direct teaching more interesting.
