I have taught ELL students for 10 years. I am going into my 11th year of teaching this 2015/2016 school year. I have had experience teaching grades first through third, but my favorite grade that I have been teaching the longest is second grade. Although this year, I will be teaching 4th grade for the first time ever. I feel that I owe it to my students to be their most favorite teacher because my most favorite teacher was my 4th grade teacher when I was in school.
I have strong classroom management skills. With that being said, I love to joke around with my students while making sure that they are learning and having fun at the same time. I also think that it is important to include the multiple intelligences in your teaching, and to differentiate instruction as needed so that all students are actively engaged and learning.
Not yet :) Although, who really gets recognized in teaching? That would be nice, wouldn't it? No, I'm just kidding. Honestly, the real honor and award in my opinion, is when old students come back to visit you and when students perform well and succeed because of you and your teaching.
I received my bachelor's degree in elementary education from Arizona State University in Tempe in 2005. I also have a reading endorsement and an ESL endorsement on my teaching certificate. I have had many professional development opportunities as well, but the one that I have found the most useful thus far is my Thinking Maps training! :)
When I'm not teaching, I love to spend time with my family, to read, to watch tv/movies and to go shopping. One of my favorite shows on tv right now is Impractical Jokers. What do you enjoy watching or doing to destress from teaching? I am also a sweets fanatic and I do enjoy my alone time, as rare as that is when I get it. Thank-you for reading my bio and for visiting my store. Have a blessed day!
