I have been in the field of special education for 10 years, working with children who have Autism/Asperger's Syndrome, learning disabilities, emotional and behavior disorders, ADD/ADHD and mild intellectual disabilities. I have taught all elementary grade levels, K-5 in the resource setting, and co-taught in the general education classroom grades 1-5. My focus now is in the area of Autism. Additonally, I co-teach with both 3rd and 5th grade teachers in the areas of writing and social studies. Please see below for a more detailed outline of my experience both in and out of the classroom. • Developed and implemented a social skills program to promote both tolerance and acceptance within the school community, Architects of Peace • Developed and implemented a literacy program, Lunch Bunch, for BB Harris Elementary which has served more than 300 children over the past three years 2007- present • Private Tutor for more than 20 children from the summer of 2006 to 2011. • Building-Wide Representative for PAGE 2006-2007 • Cluster-Wide Vertical Team member in the area of science 2005-2007 • Implemented before school math tutorial for students in need of additional math support 2005-2007 • Implemented “Book Buddies” for students in need of additional reading support 2005-2007 • Organized two volunteer groups for students and staff: Valentines for Veterans and Habitat for Humanity 2005-2006 • Co-chair of Character Education Committee 2005-2007 • Full Inclusion teacher for two years- Dolvin Elementary 2005-2007 • Taught Extended Day program for students identified as “at-risk” of failing Criterion Referenced Competency Test 2005-2006 • Inclusion/Resource teacher for 6 years 1998-2004 • Taught in-service to faculty on Inclusion Techniques 2003-2004 • Designed and implemented literature units for inclusion reading which met the needs of three different reading abilities within the classroom 2003-2004 • Chairperson of the Math Committee which organized school-wide math activities and assemblies 2001-2002
