This is my nineteenth year in education. I have taught all grades from PK-5. I am certified to teach grades PK-8. I am also a presenter for my district's teacher PD during the summer.
I have a dynamic teaching style: high energy and engaging. I believe in centers and math tub rotations. I believe in allowing students to work in cooperative groups on projects, and I am a huge advocate for collaboration.
I have been nominated for teacher of the year four times and have received that honor twice. My first year teaching, I was chosen as "Rookie of the Year" district wide. I have taught a PD on The Fundamental Five, been nominated as an HEB Educator in Excellence award, and am a presenter for my district's teacher professional development sessions every year. Last year I taught a session on vocabulary development K-2 and critical thinking in problem solving K-5. I have been asked to add a comprehension session this summer.
I have a bachelors degree in interdisciplinary studies from the University of Houston (main campus). I am certified Pk-6 self contained, English self contained 1-8, ESL, and GT. I am hoping to go back for my masters later this year to pursue a degree in curriculum.
I have been married for 16 years and have one son. I love teaching, creating fun lessons, presenting PD for coworkers, working out, cooking, singing, salt water fishing, and I am an avid reader.
