I have taught sixteen years in both public and private schools, as well as at the college level. I have taught most all the elementary grades.
I really love to create my own lessons that are hands-on and interesting. I keep the students in perspective. I want to challenge them, but not bore them. I try to think of the way I would like to learn and what would bring a spark to their faces, but secretly embed deep understandings.
I was a math teacher of the year in 2004. I have also published several books and articles both in education and in literature.
I am a graduate of High Point University with a master's degree in elementary education. I also hold a certificate in advanced writing of children's literature.
I am enjoy writing and teaching. I write as a freelance writer for both The Education Center and Carson Dellosa. Currently I teach the third grade in North Carolina. My goal is to become a professor of children's literature.
