"So how should we reward teachers? We shouldn't. They're not pets. ...teachers should be paid well..treated with respect, and provided the support they need to help their students become...proficient and enthusiastic learners." -Alfie Kohn

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have more than a decade of experience as a social studies teacher (US History, Civics, and World History) in both public and private schools.

MY TEACHING STYLE

Teaching isn't one-size-fits all. My resources are a blend of inquiry-based and teacher-directed because, well, both are needed at different times, depending on students' needs.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

2015 Fellow, Justice Teaching Institute - State Supreme Court of Florida

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

Summa cum laude graduate of Western Carolina University - Double Major - History and Social Science Education

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I have three children (30, 28, and 17), and teaching is a second career for me. I understand the learning process from multiple perspectives - as a student, myself, as a parent, and as a professional educator. All children are unique, as are educators, and we should all be treated as such.

Teachers Pay Teachers is an online marketplace where teachers buy and sell original educational materials.
