I have been in the field of education for over 10 years. I began my career teaching in the preschool setting for a local summer program. While in college I substitute taught in numerous school districts in grades pre-k through 12. After college I was privileged to work as an elementary teacher for nine years in which I taught kindergarten, first grade and fourth grade. Since then, I have taught both undergraduate and graduate courses for several different universities in the areas of literacy, writing, reading and early childhood curriculum.
Yet to be added
I am actively pursuing publishing in educational journals and am very research-driven. In 2013, I published an early childhood literacy article in Dimensions of Early Childhood, a nationally recognized publication of the Southern Early Childhood Association (SECA). I have also presented at many conferences for professional organizations in the field of education including the Texas Association of Childhood Education International, Southern Early Childhood Association, Houston Area Association for the Education of Young Children and Texas State Reading Association.
I have a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies (early childhood education), a Master of Education in Administration, and a Doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Early Childhood Education.
I am a lifelong learner who is constantly pursuing new ideas based on educational research. I would like the share the materials that I have created over the years in order to help teachers in the field. The purpose of this website is to provide teachers with ready-to-use activities that are high quality and various templates to help stay organized. As a teacher I spent many hours (sometimes into the wee hours of the night) creating materials for my classroom. Whether you are a new teacher or a veteran teacher, I hope my materials can help make your job a little easier by saving you some valuable time.
