I have 17 years teaching experience and have taught High School ESL (ELL / EAL), English and adapted programs in a variety of places in Europe and Africa as well as in North and South America. I have also taught Adult Education and spent a number of years teaching 100% online.
The only real constant in life is change. I love the challenges and changes that each new teaching year brings and I love to embrace new technology and new ways of making teaching and learning even more creative, fun and interactive.
My work with refugee students was mentioned in "From Bombs to Books: The remarkable stories of refugee children and their families at an exceptional Canadian school." I have been invited to present on the topic of emotional intelligence in the classroom at conferences and as part of teacher training programs at universities.
I have an M.A (Honours) in English Literature, a PGCE (Post Graduate Certificate of Education) in English and a CELTA (Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults). I am also TRIBES (student centered learning) trained and Reading Recovery / Later to Literacy trained. I believe in life long learning and love languages. I recently became fluent in Brazilian Portuguese and plan to keep going on my language learning journey.
My best friend Brewster has come with me as I have moved to live and teach in different places. He might just be the world's most well-traveled dog! :)
