~ Elementary art teacher for eight years ~
Growing up I've always loved doing anything creative, and now I have a job where I help kids with just that. I have been an art teacher in both the private and public school setting and have worked with students up through eighth grade. I currently teach grades PK-4.
~Interdisciplinary~ ~Student led~
Art lessons in my classroom are full of hands on visual problem solving. Students are given the resources they need to succeed and are encouraged to experiment and explore, and most of all creativity is valued! Our finished projects follow the assignment criteria while still all looking original. Students also experience art history and writing in my class. Creative decisions are explained so they can understand how they are thinking, which is so important to the art making process.

Picture this: you are a young, enthusiastic art teacher with a passion for sharing the stories of famous artists with your students. Unfortunately the same old Powerpoints and Prezis just aren't holding all of their interest. What do you do?
This was my problem a few years into my teaching career. I wanted to share my subject with all learners but struggled with making the content engaging at times. That was when I decided to use my interest in game design to create interactive presentations for use in my classroom. I created and coded moving, interactive biographies that directly asked students questions about the content. Now my classes love starting something new! They are always eager for the next artist biography and look forward to viewing the slides I have in store for them. It's awesome!
