I work in a low income/high needs area of Texas. It's a small border town in which most of my students are bilingual, and are either from Acuna, Mexico or their immediate families are. I've worked with classrooms filled with ESL students for English II and English III. I've also worked in a co-teach classroom with English I STAAR retesters, and have taught an accelerated English III class. My students typically have weak fluency and comprehension skills.
I believe students learn best when they are getting to apply skills. I'm not a test teacher, and don't believe that tests are the only way for students to prove they have learned.
