Alex has over fifteen years teaching in grade four, five, and six classrooms, all in the public education system of Ontario. He is currently a grade six homeroom teacher, but has teaching experience from Kindergarten to grade 11, including French. Alex is also involved in many aspects of the provincial standardized assessment administered by EQAO, including rubric development, supervision of scoring activities, and the writing of the junior language assessment itself.
Alex believes that a good classroom is safe, and that all students should feel that they play a role in the learning process. Students are encouraged to take risks, and he believes that the curriculum should be delivered so that all students can access it at their own level and grow from there. A constant emphasis on learning skill development in conjunction with academic growth produces learners who are not only scholarly but worldly as well.
Alex is a Tribes certified teacher, and was nominated for Educator of the Year in Ontario.
Alex has a bachelor of arts degree from University of Toronto, and a Bachelor's of Education degree from Ontario Institute for the Studies in Education at the University of Toronto.
Alex enjoys travelling and spending time with his family. He also enjoys home renovation projects.
