Veteran educator of 15 years in the inner-city of Chicago. Worked as a teacher, a Dean of Students, and a teacher coach for grades K-12. Passionate about creating equitable environments for teaching and learning, and sharing my knowledge around culturally relevant teaching practices, SEL, restorative practices, critical literacy, and brain-based learning.

Awarded multiple grants from different non-profits for projects and experiments conducted in the classroom during my tenure. Created, published, and presented multiple participatory action research videos around implementing a critical pedagogy with inner-city kids. Contributing author of Creating Critical Classrooms: Reading and Writing with an Edge; a text that highlights and articulates a powerful theory of critical literacy; and Inside Our Classroom: Teachers on the Failure and Future of Education Reform.
