I am a 17-year veteran and still going strong. I am currently finishing an M.A. in Curriculum and Instruction with an endorsement in Reading and Writing. I have taught in typical and alternative settings in 3 different states: Alabama, Connecticut, and Colorado. At my current school, I am on the Capstone Committee, the Leadership Team, and the Intervention Team. My curriculum is developed with my students interests and abilities in mind. I rarely use a textbook choosing instead to develop units and daily lessons based on student interest, need, and ability.
I prefer lessons that incorporate many strategies. My favorite methods include mini lessons, stations, and student choice. I consider myself a guide for my students to keep the focus on their learning experiences rather than my lecturing skills.

My teaching experience spans from Alabama to Connecticut to Colorado. These travels have given me a unique perspective on the diverse communities and students that I serve. I am a strong student advocate and truly believe that no student should be left behind. I have 3 of my own children, 2 bonus stepchildren, and 3 foster children. We just became grandparents a year ago. Three fur babies round out our amazing life.
