TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been in the field of education for over 25 years. I am certified in Texas with a grades 1-8 self-contained certificate, with endorsements in physical science, mathematics, and gifted & talented. I have taught 2nd grade, K-2 G/T, K-5 G/T, middle school science and math. I have also taught in several summer institutes in chemistry, physics, and air & space science. I worked as a math specialist for 2 years in a large district here in Texas. I am currently teaching at a private school, and I work after hours in my private tutoring practice.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I use a variety of teaching methods including direct instruction, inquiry-based approaches, and project-based learning. Most of my projects are not true PBL because they do not meet the requirement of an "authentic audience." I enjoy seeing my students take ideas and "run with them" while doing research and creating unique products of high quality. It also reduces my planning time because the students are responsible for the content! I'm just a guide.
