TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Seventeen years teaching English language arts and three years coaching teachers in technology integration. Current English Department Chair at Worcester Academy in Worcester, MA. Former English Department Chair at the Weber School in Atlanta, GA. Grades taught encompass 6-12, including courses in world literature, American literature, British literature, writing, grammar, and a self-designed elective focused on the hero's journey.

MY TEACHING STYLE

My classroom is a student-centered environment with a focus on project/problem-based learning and writing workhop as techniques to engage student in relevant/real-world learning experiences and develop their writing skills.

I have maintained a blog at huffenglish.com for nearly ten years and have worked with the Folger Shakespeare Library in NCTE presentations and in their Teaching Shakespeare Institute as technology integration instructor. I am also a Folger Teaching Shakespeare Institute alumna. I have presented at conferences such as National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE), Georgia Council of Teachers of English (GCTE), MassCUE (Massachusetts Computer Using Educators), Georgia Independent Schools Association (GISA), and Online Education Symposia for Independent Schools (OESIS).
