I used this lesson when I interviewed for my current job. It's a fun and short little game to use with children. It's like Hide and Seek, but it's for their ears!

I created this lesson plan for my elementary classes. Each grade has a space for concepts, objectives, national and state standards (This one is set for Ohio standards), procedure, and assessment. I found this particularly helpful when we were

This is a rubric that I created for playing exams. It is out of a total of 20 points and is based on rhythm, pitch, dynamics / musicality, tempo, and technique. It is really for a more advanced student, but given some adjustments, it could be used

This is an assessment I used during student teaching. I used this for a lesson I was giving on instrument identification. I played samples of music for the children, and they circled the instrument that they heard. I used YouTube videos during the

This is a sheet that I use with my younger students. After playing a piece of music, the students write the title and their feelings toward the music. They are required to write in complete sentences and give me responses that make sense. There is

This is just a simple list of the National Standards from NAfME that I made to hang on my classroom wall. To make it more interesting, I glued it to purple construction paper and laminated it to make it more of a small poster.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I've been lucky enough to teach music for ten years now. Most of those years, I have taught as the high school level. But now I also teach at the elementary level. It has been a lot of fun doing many grades!

MY TEACHING STYLE

I seem to be constructivist for the majority of my lessons. I think building on student's prior knowledge is a key to success.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

The bands I have worked with have received several accolades. My biggest "award" to date would be the World bronze metal from WGI that my high school drumline earned while I was teaching there. I'm also a member of NAfME and OMEA.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I have a degree in Music Education.
