Darrell has been teaching English for 20+ years.He is the head of a high school English Department.
Darrell believes in the pursuit of academic and intellectual rigor balanced by the understanding that we study literature in order to better understand and become the individuals and society we are capable of becoming: authentic, mature, and healthy.
Darrell earned the love of a remarkable woman. In graduate school Darrell received two S.S.H.R.C. awards (Social Science and Humanity and Research Council). SSHRCs are prestigious, national, academic scholarships. Darrell also received two OGS (Ontario Government Scholarship) awards. OGS is a provincial, prestigious academic scholarship.
Darrell has a PhD (Education) from the University of Toronto.
Darrell is the author of the book Transformative Teaching: Promoting transformation through literature, the arts and Jungian psychology. (Sense 2008). His work can also be found in the book Perpetual Adolescence: Jungian analyses of American media, literature, and pop culture (SUNY 2009). Darrell is the founding editor of Journal of Jungian Scholarly Studies (www.thejungiansociety.org) and past President of the Jungian Society for Scholarly Studies.
