About Our Company

During my career, I taught K-12 music, but specialized in K-5 general music for my last 18 years before retirement. I began as a piano teacher in my college days, and got into public school music education as a result of my love of teaching piano. From my teens to my 20's, I played in many rock, jazz, and pop bands while also working as a church organist while in college, eventually transitioning to solo piano gigs for bars, restaurants, banquets, etc. Having studied composition, piano, and music education at Temple University in Philadelphia, I produced and released my first CD, "Turning To Prayer",a collection of Catholic songs, in 2000, the title track of which is now available on video on YouTube. During my recent elementary music school position, I wrote and directed 7 original musicals for upper elementary students which were very well-received and successful, and am looking forward to using this website to make those musicals available to teachers looking for excellent material for their own local productions.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

MY TEACHING STYLE

My teaching style is heavily influenced by theMusic Learning Theory developed by Dr. Edwin Gordon, who taught me at Temple University, which means that I primarily would focus on students performing by rote to internalize the tonal and rhythm patterns of songs, before trying to teach theory concepts out of sequence. Focusing on the emphasis of the physical realities of the elements of music makes music learning more fun, and children more successful, and this process worked extremely well for all of us for many years!
