A quote from an Amazon fan who bought my paperback: "While this book is geared towards the high school student trying to grapple with the complexities of math word problems, it is also a guide to the problems we face in everyday life. “What do we need?” “What do we know that will help us find what we need?” Like life, many of the answers to our questions are not immediately obvious, but by taking what we do know and manipulating that information into an equation the answers are revealed. Some of our needs are simple and the simple equation is all that is required to get what we need. Yet we all know that some of our needs and questions are not that simple and a series of steps are required to solve the puzzle. Dawn LaBuy-Brockett walks you through all the steps starting with the simple equations and taking you step-by-step to confidently address your (math) life’s more complex questions." I have a ton of music, children's books, children's music books, children's math books, adult stories, music for advanced musicians (Quartets, Quintets, Vocal, Handbell, A Symphony, and more...) "Butterflies," the musical play is deep. Read and enjoy! I have been a sub on and off for over 25 years. I actually got a part-time teaching job without having a teacher's certificate. This was to teach music to K and 2. At NIU I was a TA and taught Sightsinging and Music Dictation for a year. I taught music most of the time, including K-5, and took over a band program at the local Junior High for 3 months. I've tutored calculus for free to a few lucky students who really wanted to learn. I taught Latin to seniors in high school! I knew enough German and French to decipher. but the students helped me through.
Do you wish you had a math book when you were 4 yrs. old that ended up to be useful in high school? Your school book is so complicated, but this book is so easy and is what you need to know? Well, here you go! I love talking to children, and especially young children who can talk back. I listen to them, and try to make them laugh. I introduce them to music and anything else they can learn. I was playing a puzzle game with my oldest Granddaughter. We were putting the right colors in the right places. Then I put them in the wrong places. She laughed and yelled, "Grandma!" Then I called the colors by the wrong name. She laughed and yelled, "Grandma!" Then she started to imitate me, and I figured it was time to cut this out before she gets carried away with the joke at Preschool!

BA Mathematics, IWU: 44 hours of mathematics including Calculus, Matrix Theory, Digital Mathematics, Advanced Calculus, Projective Geometry, Hyperbolic Geometry, and Topology. The 44 hours do not include Astrophysics and Logic which I studied and aced. Lots of music, German, English, and more. BM and MM Music Thoery and Composition, NIU. I took mainly music and art courses here. The Basics as well as Recording Techniques, Accoustics, and Music History, with piano as a major instrument. I studied music composition with amazing and creative composers. I played in a Steel Drum ensemble as well as a Balinese Gamelan Ensemble. I held numerous concerts, and participated in others. I also studied Video Production, Multi-Image Production, and Playwriting. My art professor said one day, "I love when music composers take my classes. They don't just deal with a picture, but truly know how to deal with art in time. They write notes on a page, and it turns out to be a great piece of music!" This was before the music programs on the internet, and I did write music on the page, as well as slice audio tape on a reel-to-reel format, because we didn't have any digital recording capabilities. I'll tell you, the technological innovations have made my life easy to a point, but we were able to be so much more creative back then! We could splice tape anyway we wanted. Think of the possibilities!!! I miss the days!!!!!
My birthday is April Fools' Day. I figure this is why I am the way I am, and I really like who I am. Enjoy my works! Enjoy my ideas! I was thinking I'd never have Grandchildren. I had 5 Granddogs when my sisters had Grandchildren. Then, when it rains it pours! Cam is the oldest. Then I got 4 Grandchildren in 2 years! Everything I've written is for them in some way. They are going to be fantastic musicians and mathematicians, and very creative people! My present project is: All About A Quarter Money, Fractions, and Percentages, along with basic operations, and shows how everything connects to something else. All this is presented in a way a 5 year-old would understand. It's interactive and colorful, just like my other children's books. Feel free to contact me anytime at firstname.lastname@example.org. My website is http:www,angelfire.com/blues/onedge My motto: If you are not smiling, you haven't met me yet!
