TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I was a substitute teacher for two years for grades K-12. Quickly realizing that each class, grade level, and teacher I was subbing for were completely different, I created a BOB (Bag of Back-ups). This bag included a variety of different lesson plans, books, and games to use in case of emergencies. I, then was employed as a Resource Instructor for two years. With nearly 2 dozen students from grades 1-5 with a variety of learning disabilities, I was able to test out and mainstream 18 of those students. After teaching 4 years in a traditional public school setting I decided to homeschool my three children. I was hired by a home based charter school to teach enrichment courses to the homeschoolers. As a family, we have completed 11 years of homschooling. My oldest graduated from a university in Utah in May 2019 with a degree in Chemistry. My middle child graduated from a private university in Maine in May 2019 with a degree in Business and spent one semester in Spain. My youngest child just completed his first year of college and is studying Business and Auto Technology. I have a Bachelor's in Business Management and a Master's in Adult Education and Training. I currently own an Educational Consulting company.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I love to watch individuals teach themselves while I guide their conversations, discussions, experiences, and activities. I have heard my teaching style referred to it as creative or active learning. I try to incorporate a variety of different learning styles so no matter how the students learn each individual is presented to and feels comfortable and challenged at the same time.
