I have been working as a Dual Language teacher for 5 years. I have taught Pre-K, 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th. The last couple of summers I have been training new teachers and preparing them for a successful first year in the classrooms.
I have to say my teaching style is a "facilitator." I like my students to take ownership of their own learning and become independent and accountable for their success. I love to model for them and after I feel they grasp the concepts, I allow them to model to other students and increase their newly aquired knowledge at home and during any other opportunities.
I have been the "Teacher of the Month" on two occassions at our school. I also received a Reward for Perfect Attendance during my 4th year teaching!
I received my B.A. from University of Texas at Arlington in May 2007. I graduated with a degree in EC - 4th Bilingual as a summa cum laude. On December 2011 I graduated with a Master's Degree in School Leadership with Dual Language Emphasis from University of Texas at Arlington as well. I am currently seeking my principal certification.
I was born and raised in Mexico. I came to Texas when I was 10 years. Ever since I was in Kindergarten I knew I wanted to teach and I still cannot think of anything in the world that I'd love more than this career. I aspire to become a school principal one day and continue to advocate for children. I enjoy traveling and spending time with my husband.
