I have 8 years of teaching experience in grades 6-12. I have worked in both fully Project Based Learning and Traditional schools in California. I have helped open a number of schools in both San Diego and the Bay Area that are thriving in progressive education. I am currently a Curriculum Lead for 9-12th grade English in a traditional school setting, introducing Project Based Learning in the district.
I believe in the "have a good class" mantra. It's a mantra, and hope, that the students take information and run creatively with it. I hope that each and every day my students have a good class, participate in being a good human, and own their education to the best of their ability. I believe in Project Based Learning. In my experience, PBL incorporates several principles, including student autonomy, inquiry, subject matter integration, authentic work, critique, revision, and public exhibition. Each of these principles can improve student learning even when used separately. Follow me on Twitter to see more of my classes in action! @aedegrano
