I taught 3rd Grade for a year before moving down to (and absolutely falling in love with) 1st Grade, where I have spent the last four years!
I have a very eclectic teaching style. I love using technology in my classroom but also enjoying "unplugging" and going to back to the basics occasionally. I'm a firm believer in hands on learning and collaboration but also encourage my students to work hard independently. I often feel like my students teach me more about learning than I teach them.
I am a North Carolina Teaching Fellows (class of 2011).
I graduated from NC State University with a BS in Elementary Education.
I'm currently teaching first grade at a high poverty school in a small, cornfield town. Despite the daily challenges, I love my job and feel honored to be a part of such a rewarding profession. I enjoy spending time (and often comparing "teacher stories" with my high school history teacher) husband, snuggling with my two dogs, enjoying the beauty that is my hometown, and blogging at delightfullydunn.blogspot.com.
