I have been teaching high school math since 2000. I have taught every level of math from Pre-Algebra to AP Calculus and AP Statistics. I have worked closely with diverse learner teachers to make my lessons accessible to all learners.
I like to be systematic with my lessons so that each topic runs from one right into the other. This gives students ample time to grasp the concept and the teacher time to incorporate the concepts into a series of related lessons that build on each other. I am more hands-on and feel that students don't really process the information until they use it and do it. I like to give detailed notes so that if students forget what we did in class or their parents or tutors try to help them, then they will clearly be able to see what the student is supposed to do.
I was a Milken National Teacher's Award winner in 2006 and I was accepted into the MSU-WIPRO Stem Fellowship program for the 2015-2016 school year.
I have a BS in Secondary Mathematics with a minor in French. I also have a masters in school leadership from Concordia University. I currently am working on earning a graduate certificate in Stem and Leadership from Michigan State University.
