TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Emily: Ashley: My undergraduate program was everything a teaching candidate could hope for, we were in classrooms every semester from day one right up until days before we walked the stage. As a result, I have spent extensive time in each grade level K - 6 with the majority of that time being focused in title one schools working with refugees, immigrants, students with exceptional needs, and students living in poverty. Since graduation, I taught fourth grade for three years. Two years in Central Florida and one year in Denver Colorado. One year in second, one year in third, and one year as an instructional coach! I am currently teaching my first year in first grade!

MY TEACHING STYLE

We bonded over a similar belief in educating the whole child in every child… (that and a move-in to a third floor walk-up). We are passionate about equity for all students: students with special needs, English Language Learners, students living in poverty; but also we believe in equity for everyone, the quiet student, the outgoing student, or the smart student. We believe in having fun, engaging lessons that are focused on a clear teaching point that is aligned to common core standards. All of our teaching resources are resources that we have used and feel passionately about. When you step into our classrooms you are guaranteed to hear laughter, questions, and kindness. We hope our resources can bring out these traits in your classroom too!

Denver Duo is a second grade teaching team made up of Ashley and Emily. We create versatile, Common Core-aligned products, which we hope will be helpful in your classroom! We believe that learning environments are, at their best, collaborative and cooperative, both for students and teachers. We both sought out graduate degrees through the University of Colorado at Denver. In our "spare" time, we travel the world and debate where to find the best brunch in Denver. Please feel free to reach out with any questions.
