I am currently enjoying my 6th year of teaching. I taught 6th grade math and 5th grade reading before accepting a science position. I haven't looked back since! This is my fourth year to teach 5th grade science and social studies, and I have loved every minute of it! I also love integrating my language arts and reading background into my science lessons.
I truly believe I am my best when I am having fun with my kids. Why would I want to come to work and be miserable? I strive to make my classroom fun, active, nurturing, student driven, and engaging. I cannot teach my students though without first building relationships with them. If, at the end of 180 days of school, my students know they are valued and loved in this world, then I have done my job.
Chosen to attend the Mickelson ExxonMobil Teachers Academy in 2015 2017 Recipient of the Lamplighter Award by the Longview ISD Foundation
In 2007 I enrolled at East Texas Baptist University. I graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Education degree in 2011.
I live in Texas with my sweet fur baby Sookie. My hobbies include photography, decorating (Joanna Gaines is my spirit animal), and crafting. I love all things Gilmore Girls, except for coffee! I am more of an unsweet tea gal. Most of all, I am a follower of Jesus. What an honor it is to be used by Him in this field!
