As a retired teacher of 40 years, I own and operate a school supply store, which is up-to-date with the latest trends in education. I attend two annual buying trips, which provide a unique opportunity to interact with all vendors and see the newest materials for teachers and their classrooms. With a broad teaching background, I've had the liberty to teach both a resource and self-contained learning disabilities class, in addition to 2nd and 3rd grade of regular education. Towards the end of my teaching career, I taught in a psychiatric hospital, and concluded my final years with 4th-6th grade gifted students. On top of my teaching, I have had several ideas published in Mailbox Magazine.
I believe in a multi-disciplinary hands-on approach, in which I incorporate all modalities when teaching. All children can learn with the right method.
I have been a school level "Teacher of the Year" and a county finalist for "Teacher of the Year". I've been selected as WMAZ's "My Teacher is Tops". I also had a student who was on the National Dean's list select me as the teacher that influenced him the most.
I am a graduate of Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. I received my master's degree from Georgia State University. In addition, I did graduate work at Mercer University in Atlanta.
