TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have taught for over twenty years in a small rural school in Southwest Georgia. I teach Reading and Writing. I have been developing my own lessons because I could customize them to the needs of my students. I have sponsored Student Council, co-sponsored Jr. Beta, and direct Drama Club. I am enjoying teaching children of former students from this small, tight-knit community.

MY TEACHING STYLE

My teaching style can be summed up in three words: structure, humor, and encouragement. Building relationships with students does more to increase learning than anything. If students know you care about them, they begin to care about themselves as well.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

Letters, cards, and emails from former students thanking me for making a difference in their lives. So humbling and amazing.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I am a product of the public schools and a graduate of Florida State University where I graduated Cum Laud. I am a gifted and talented endorsed teacher.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I am a musician and write drama productions for my students to perform. I am happily married to my best friend, Mark Watson. We have three sons: Benjamin, Austin, and Cade. The boys love to skateboard, surf, mountain bike, play the guitar, and music of many genres.
