I have been a Special Education teacher for 6 years at a title 1 school. A title 1 school presents outside issues that often battle for attention against the curriculum. I firmly believe in differentiation, as we need to be able to reach as many students as possible while they are in our classroom.
I believe in creating students who are free thinkers and questioners. Students need to be able to become independent minds who learn to question (respectfully) their peers as well as the content being taught. Once two students are able to question each other while remaining respectful and using evidence to support their claims, you know you have accomplished something that can change the world.
I was awarded Departmental Honors from my undergraduate college in Secondary Education for History. I was recently observed by the NYC Chancellor, Carmen Farina, and received positive feedback for my lesson as well as my classroom setup.
I received my Bachelor's Degree from St. Joseph's College in Secondary Education for History. I then attended Queens College where I received my Master's Degree in Students with Disabilities.
