Jennifer M. Rodriguez is a teacher, author, mother, blogger, and currently works as self-contained special education teacher. She taught pre-K while completing her K-8 BS in Texas, then went on to teach combined middle school and high school at New Mexico's maximum security facility for incarcerated juveniles where she served as an educational advisor and member of the parole board. She also taught multiple subjects in 4th grade and 6-7-8 Language Arts in public schools.
After relocating to California, Jennifer and her two daughters escaped a near-lethal domestic abuse situation. She then shifted her career to focus on helping at risk children to overcome obstacles preventing them from experiencing life to their fullest potential. Jennifer has discovered a link between today's social culture, the increase in the intensity of bullying, and domestic abuse rates. Besides creating quality lesson plans for all content areas in late elementary and middle school; Jennifer has also created dynamic character education and bully prevention resources.
Most of Jennifer's lesson plans are easily adaptable for multiple skill levels and learning styles. Activities are intended to inspire students to think critically and incorporate their own thoughts and opinions as part of their final products. Most individual lessons and all projects include creative components.
Lesson plans involving small group work will also include strategies to engage all learners within the group and provide tips to help the teacher recognize and avoid some of the subtle social power struggles among his or her students.
Jennifer has been featured in numerous articles, radio shows, and TV interviews as an advocate for children and families managing stressful situations, including bully prevention.
She was also one of the moms on Three Moms And A Mike web based radio show which discusses social issues affecting today's families. September 2011: Jennifer is one of four Woman on the Go winners presented by The Power Network.
November 2012: Jennifer is a featured presenter at NAEYC's (National Association of Educators of Young Children) Annual Conference in Atlanta, GA on the subject of bully prevention
