I have taught 30 years in grades 4 - 8 in Georgia. I taught all academic subjects at different times in my career.
During my 30 years, I have seen and tried multiple styles of teaching. The one aspect that has always worked is to relate the unknown subject matter to something the student is familiar with and passionate about.
In my 30 years in the classroom, I have had many shining moments, but the ones that stand out the most did not have a plaque attached to them. The highlights of my teaching career are too numerous to mention. There are those moments when I hear students talking about the lesson outside of the classroom with excitement in their voices. My biggest success stories involve seeing former students who are successful students and those who have become successful adults.
I received my bachelors, masters, and specialists in middle grades education with concentrations in language arts and math from The University of West Georgia in Carrollton, Georgia.
I have been married for 35 years and have two children who are each married. I am a proud Granna to three grandchildren with a fourth one on the way.
