TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have taught English/Language Arts, Sociology, Mass Media, and Film Studies for the past 20 years in a 7-12 rural district, and I have been the department chair for the past 17 years. I also have taught college Rhetoric and Composition I and II, as well as many course in a Master's of Elementary Reading and Literacy program. I have taught both high school and college in online environments as well as face-to-face.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I like an interactive class where students can construct their own learning, if possible. In secondary school, I feel a teacher's responsibility is to teach students to be good individuals who will be content and productive members of society, and we do this through our content.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I am a National Board Certified Teacher and a Teacher Leader. I have had the opportunity to represent my colleagues in a variety of committees, including School Improvement, Student Growth, and Performance Evaluation Reform Act joint committee member.
