I am actively involved in developing problem-based Counselor Activities to use with students/clients. I also love facilitating professional development for teachers to learn how to implement the Common Core State Standards, Standards-Based Assessments and Grading, effective instructional practices, and instructional technology. During my career, I have been an Elementary teacher, a Middle School teacher, a Special Education teacher, and a Counselor in K-12 School Districts. I am also a Licensed Professional Counselor. I've been a University Professor in the College of Education, and held a variety of building and district level administration positions in K-12 School Districts.
Whether I teach students in K-12, college students, or practicing teachers, counselors, and administrators, my teaching style is that of facilitating and guiding active learning by providing opportunities for engaging problem-based learning. I like to use alot of cooperative learning experiences, real conversations and research with students. I focus instruction on having students apply their new knowledge and higher reasoning skills to solve real-world problems.
