I started my educational experience right out of college teaching 3rd graders math, science, and social studies. This is where I discovered my passion for science. I took several years off from teaching to start a family, but when I returned to the classroom I moved up to middle school. I taught 6th and 7th grade science at a title I school where we had very little curriculum to work with and many challenges embedded in our student population. This is where I discovered my passion for writing curriculum. I discovered the importance of creating a product that could "sell itself" amongst our students. I am currently a science curriculum instructional specialist at the middle school level. I have the privilage of working with wonderful teachers and students everyday to help build an engaging and supportive learning environment for our students.
I believe that all learning styles should be addressed in the classroom. My favorite teaching style focuses on hands-on-learning. I think that students learn best by doing.
