I am in my ninth year of teaching, eight of which have been in sixth grade, and this year is my first year in fourth grade and I love it!
I believe students learn best when they are allowed hands on experiences. I am a huge supporter of group work. I also set the expectation that ALL students can success and are accountable for the information presented. I let my students know that I can call on anyone in the class and each student will be expected to give the correct response.
I have had the opportunity to be a conference presenter at the state and national level for science education. I have also done work with the NSRC with science education through the Smithsonian in Washington D.C. I went to Indianapolis to receive the Cheryl Cowan Memorial Award for Innovative Elementary Science Teaching. It was presented at the HASTI (Hoosier Association of Science Teachers, Inc.) Conference. What an honor and blessing to be chosen for this award!
I graduated from IUSB in December of 2007 and have been working ever since! I love my job and feel that I have the BEST job in the world! I give God all the praise for what He has provided!
