TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have taught on the secondary level for 20 years and in higher education for 20 years.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I teach students to think like a historian: to understand how history is created, evaluated, and changes over time. This method of revealing the fluidity of history requires frequent use of primary sources of all kinds and a Q and A approach in my presentations, as well as in their self-guided work. Holding each unit together is an introductory "big picture" with organizing themes and tools so that students have a map to follow in their critical thinking.
