I have taught across the curriculum in grades 6 through 12, and at a University level in Physics. For four years my experience in a Middle/HS Behavioral Modification Public School in the Philadelphia School System focused on development of academic presentations that facilitated student cooperation and improved classroom behavior. Hands-on, project oriented assignments with a final product that was to be brought to completion were amazingly successful with these special students whose previous school performance was punctuated with behavioral problems far out of bounds for any classroom. That these products were effective with these students recommends them for teachers in general as useful breaks in the traditional pedagogical approaches now common to the average classroom.
State of the Art Learning Style approaches with attention to Whole Brain Instruction, heavily focused on busy-hands project oriented instruction using portfolio assessment as the rubric for grading.
