I have been teaching in Queensland Primary Schools for over 10 years. I have taught all grades from P-7 and am a multi-age teacher at heart which stems from my early years in (VERY!) small country schools. I also spent 5 years in a low-socio city school and am currently teaching multi-age classes in Outback Queensland.
I have active, engaging classrooms where children construct knowledge though experiences and consolidate understandings through routine - not the other way around! My early years as a multi-age teacher have influenced my teaching style quite significantly. I'm always looking for resources that "nest" (link or carry across a number of year levels), and take each child on their own merit, ensuring that resources are scaffolded so that everyone can participate in year-level content, no matter what their skill or working level.

I'm a qualified Classroom Profiler and YuMi Deadly Maths instructor. I presented at the YuMi Deadly Maths conference in 2014. I have been trained intensively in Reading to Learn with David Rose over a period of 2 years as part of the school-wide pedagogy in one of my previous schools. I have a passion for curriculum and have written a number of curriculum plans and programs and hope to explore career options in this area in the future!
I'm a mother of 2 children. My daughter goes to school where I work, is sometimes in my classes and often brings the kids I teach home with her. I have a special needs son in high school who is proving to be quite a challenge in his teenage years. I credit him with inspiring my other passion in teaching - behaviour management and POSITIVE behaviour support. Like everything else at school, behaviour is a skill we learn through opportunity, feedback and practice.
