I have been teaching in bilingual classrooms for 27 years. In that time, I have had the opportunity to be trained in a variety of teaching approaches. However, being a teacher of bilingual students, it has been challenging finding materials, worksheets and games that I could use in my classroom.
I feel that these days, a teacher has to implore a variety of teaching styles to be successful. Today's teacher should be able to move from whole group lessons to guided small group lessons to one-on-one styles. Along the way students have to have the opportunity to practice what they have heard or a hands on approach.
I was selected Teacher of the Year by my colleagues in 1998- 1999.
I attended the University of Texas in Austin. There I received a bachelor's degree in elementary education. Additionally, I received a bilingual endorsement and another in early childhood education. I have also received training in the dual language approach; as well as, dual language centers.
I am new to TPT and am learning as I go along. Please remember that I am a real person. I relish the possibility of feedback in order to improve my products.
