The bulk of my teaching experience has been teaching Grades 9-12 English to very diverse learners. I love every aspect of the English program, but I particularly love teaching writing because this empowers students to organize and critically evaluate information and articulately communicate their ideas.
I support the ideals of curriculum excellence, academic achievement, and developing well rounded students within a nurturing environment that encourages students’ intellectual curiosity and supports individual learning styles, strengths and leadership skills. I embrace a liberal arts philosophy of education that urges students to think critically, morally, and logically about themselves and their worlds so as to empower them to develop and improve both. I try to differentiate instructional models to accommodate students' preferences and needs.
I spent 13 years as Academic Director, which in my school meant developing curriculum, particularly English. Now I have recently taken a position as Principal of a private school. For me, these positions are honors because they affirm the curriculum that I love developing. Also the student body awarded me with "the most understanding teacher" award of which I remain very proud.
