I have taught in nursery schools, preschools, play groups and day nurseries in Denmark, the United Kingdom and Norway for over 20 years! I have worked as both a teacher, Deputy Manager and Manager in various places, and have also worked as an Early Years Adviser in the UK, counselling and helping settings with whatever issues and challenges they may have.
I trained first as a Montessori teacher and in many ways that clarity of vision with materials has stuck with me, although I no longer work in a Montessori environment. I enjoy working creatively with the children, using open-ended materials to deepen their problem-solving skills, confidence and vocabulary. The amount of vocabulary a 3 year old understands and can use has been shown to be directly linked to the success of their reading ability by the time they turn 8.
Yet to be added
I have a local (Danish) Montessori Diploma in 2-6 year old pedagogy. I also have a University Degree in Childhood and Youth Studies, plus an EYP (Early Years Professional) add on degree from the Metropolitan University London.
Currently living and working in Norway - feeling at first hand the challenges of living in a 'foreign' environment and having to learn a new language and vocabulary! I have also self-published a book which is available on Amazon as a Kindle download and on CreateSpace.com as a printed book called 'Creative Sensory Play Recipe Toolkit', the how, what and why of creative sensory play plus over 40 tried and tested home-made/cheap recipes for paints, play doughs, clays, etc. etc.! Check it out, it will save any kindergarden or pre-k teacher a load of time trawling the internet for sensory 'recipes' that work!!
