TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I am a Professionally Certified Teacher and have taught students in mathematics at all grade levels. Increasing confidence and abilities is my special interest. I have been teaching in the school system for 12 years and currently teach secondary mathematics at an independent school in British Columbia. I also have an engineering and computer technology background. Along with my BC teaching degree, I have a Post-Baccalaureate Diploma in Special Education and am currently working towards my Masters Degree in Mathematics. I also work independently as a private tutor.

MY TEACHING STYLE

My teaching style is very balanced one, with an emphasis on mastering previously learned material before moving on to the next level. When tutoring students, I find many of them benefit and become more engaged from learning a lesson from the previous level. Many of them have even told me that I have helped them to increase their confidence to move forward in future mathematics courses.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

Bachelor in General Science; Bachelor in Education Post-Baccalaureate Diploma in Special Education; Masters in Mathematics (Current).

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I was born and raised in Vancouver. My parents are Italian immigrants who came to Canada for more opportunities. We are a very traditional Italian family, making wine and canning our own tomatoes every year. During my school years, my love for mathematics was paramount. It always found the subject interesting with a heavy dose of challenge mixed into it. It has always been my dream to teach mathematics, because it is what I love to do.
