I have had the pleasure of teaching in public and private schools, across all grades. I taught in a large public school district for 10 years. I taught general education in 1st, 2nd, and resource which included K-6th. I am currently in my 15th year at a private therapeutic school. I taught for 4 years in the high school, mostly life skills. I taught life skills, and then reading and math in the middle school grades. I am now teaching all subjects in an elementary class. My students range from 1st to 4th grades.
I believe that we should teach students how to learn, and instill the desire to be life long learners. Each student is an individual, and should be taught with that in mind. Teaching should address all learning styles. Students should feel like their opinions and feelings matter; they should feel cared for and safe.
One of ten finalists for teacher of the year in a district of almost 40,000 students. Lifetime PTA award.
I attended East Texas State University (now Texas A&M at Commerce). I have a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education, specializations in English and Special Education.
I am married and have 2 awesome dogs. I love my students, their families and my colleagues. I am blessed to do what I love, with people that are like family.
