Dead Poets' Society starring Robin Williams may have taken on a more meaningful or ironic tone because of Williams's own personal demons, but the movie works well with A Separate Peace, and it's probably still used by English teachers in conjunction

20 multiple choice questions on The Monkey's Paw by W. W. Jacobs. Another 12 questions on poetry based on a poem about The Monkey's Paw. I know we're always trying to fit poetry in somewhere, and it works best if it relates to the literature

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Twelve years teaching in a suburban district near Milwaukee.
Check out my own creative writing here My wife taught four years, as well. She taught more of the Advanced classes and less of the creative ones.

MY TEACHING STYLE

Use of technology in the classroom when useful. Taught several classes completely online. Emphasis on Cultural Literacy and background knowledge in order to understand literature and how to write, but also to connect with other classes. My wife was the typical martyr teacher who planned until 7pm on a Friday for the next week. Her lessons are organized and usable out of the box, whereas a teacher might have to step outside the box to see how cool my lessons can be.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

My honor was to have students published in my creative writing classes, students who otherwise disliked school or English class to succeed, and for students to tell me today that they remember lessons from over a decade ago. Many of the honors and awards from my past will do little to shape my future, but the fact that people like you are purchasing and using some of these lessons that took me hours upon hours of my own time to create is a great honor. Some of these units were important in the lives of students I was able to reach, and there's magic in a few of the assignments. I just hope that these downloads being here for you can make your life a little easier.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY
