Five crimes, and three opinions for each: Charles Dickens, society today, and the student. Expand it to 10 crimes if you like. My goal was to spend a class period working on this and discussing it, but you could take it further. I worked in a very

My wife created this study guide. It's a pretty good guide, but I have not added the answers for a couple of reasons: it's seven pages long and my wife's handwriting is awful. If and when I do add answers, the price will go up. Anyhow, a lot of it

I still can't believe my wife wrote her own study guides. I can't believe even more that she also created an answer key. You know someone at your school has one, but that person maybe isn't going to give it to you to use, and you're also not sure

This seems like a pretty cool assignment my wife created: get students into groups of three, and then have them do some research related to a big decision they have to make, and then make some choices based on the book. The assignment forces

When you teach an honors class A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens, you have to consider your audience. My audience, like at many of your schools, was made up of 75% female students. I never liked Dickens much when I was in high school, but I

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Twelve years teaching in a suburban district near Milwaukee.
Check out my own creative writing here My wife taught four years, as well. She taught more of the Advanced classes and less of the creative ones.

MY TEACHING STYLE

Use of technology in the classroom when useful. Taught several classes completely online. Emphasis on Cultural Literacy and background knowledge in order to understand literature and how to write, but also to connect with other classes. My wife was the typical martyr teacher who planned until 7pm on a Friday for the next week. Her lessons are organized and usable out of the box, whereas a teacher might have to step outside the box to see how cool my lessons can be.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

My honor was to have students published in my creative writing classes, students who otherwise disliked school or English class to succeed, and for students to tell me today that they remember lessons from over a decade ago. Many of the honors and awards from my past will do little to shape my future, but the fact that people like you are purchasing and using some of these lessons that took me hours upon hours of my own time to create is a great honor. Some of these units were important in the lives of students I was able to reach, and there's magic in a few of the assignments. I just hope that these downloads being here for you can make your life a little easier.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

ME-- *French Immersion School - Milwaukee Public Schools ---*UW-Milwaukee - English Major, French Minor, Urban Planning Certificate ---*UW-Eau Claire - Teaching certification in MAT program WIFE -- Brookfield Academy ---UW-Eau Claire - Journalism ---Carroll College - English Teaching Cert.
