I've been teaching at an urban public school for the last four years. Most of my experience has been teacher high school English, but I've taught a Creative Writing class and for the last two years, I've taught a reading intervention course. I teacher students on all ability levels - from pre-AP to students with special needs.
My teaching style is project/problem based with a technology focus. I focus on teaching points that assist students in developing skills. I try to teach standards without making testing my focus. I want to ensure that my students leave my students being more critical of their surrounding and more independent.
In 2014, I became a Teacherpreneur with the Public Education Foundation and am currently running a program called Virtual Seminar: Connecting Students, Two Classrooms at a Time! I hope to post some of these seminar topics and resources soon!
I graduated from Middle Tennessee State University in 2011. I majored in Political Science and minored in English. After deciding I did not want to attend law school, I considered my love for young people and literacy - teaching really is my passion. While teaching on an alternate license, I began to teach while pursuing my Master's. I earned a Masters of Education from the University of Tennessee in the Summer of 2014.
