Educational Resources from Sweet Pea Books

I have taught kindergarten, first, third, fourth, and fifth grade throughout my eleven-year teaching career. I have developed literacy curriculum and trained teachers as a professional developer at an educational non-profit organization.

I am dedicated to educating and positively impacting our youth. I am the founder of Sweet Pea Books, Inc. and a founding teacher of an elementary school in New York City. I have authored and illustrated seven multicultural books for children and have received honorable mention for my exotic fruit alphabet book, D is for Dragon Fruit, from the New York Book Festival. As the learning specialist for grades 3-5, I collaborate with teachers in long and short term planning that address the students’ individual goals. I provide direct and indirect instruction to students entitled to special education services as well as identified at-risk students both in pull-out and inclusion settings.

After graduating from Temple University with a BA in Journalism in 2003, I enrolled in an education program at Iona College and obtained my master’s degree in Childhood Education (grades 1-6) in 2006. I also earned a New York State Special Education certificate.

Sweet Pea Books is dedicated to producing multicultural stories that inspire, amuse, and foster a love of reading in all children.
