For the past eighteen years, I have been employed as a Highly Qualified teacher at a diverse collection of school settings including Bunche Middle School in Compton Unified School District; El Modena High School and Orange Community Day School/Alternative Education in Orange Unified School District. I was also the designated Administrator Support at the Orange Alternative Education school site. For the past year, I have been the site administrator-vice principal of Twin Rivers Adult School in Sacramento, California. These experiences have allowed me to obtain a unique skill-set and knowledge of the required leadership qualities, specialized skills, and educational systems so that I may impact school improvement and learning of all students in diverse educational settings. I possess more than eighteen years of progressive experience in the education field. My professional history includes positions teaching in challenging settings with diverse clientele including Adult students; English Learners; Advanced Placement students; Developmentally challenged students, At-risk students, Behavior students, Incarcerated students, and Homeless/Foster-youth students. I have also been successful in departmental and district program leadership positions. Moreover, since 2005, I have been a writer of formal grant proposals and evaluation reports for public and private institutions of education. Furthermore, I have participated on eight WASC committees visiting diverse school settings throughout the state of California. Most recently, as the site administrator-vice principal of Twin Rivers Adult School, I collaborated with our leadership team to evaluate school systems and developed relationships with all staff and set forth a strategy to work through the many needs of the school. During this time, I facilitated and supported the development of a new assessment process to better place English Learner students upon arrival to our school. Moreover, I have fostered the development of protocols to manage attendance, academic intervention, school-wide assessment, community partnerships, curriculum, materials, school safety, and all daily school operations. My eighteen years of experience have instilled in me a broad educational acumen. This experience has allowed me to have a positive impact on diverse learners at varied school sites in the communities of Garden Grove, Compton, Orange, and Sacramento, California. This expertise is reflected in my experience of leading and assisting in the planning, development, organization, and delivery of instructional programs and activities. Furthermore, it is demonstrated in my willingness to help others, assume leadership roles, be a professional resource for staff, and develop community partnerships including local businesses, organizations, parents, students, and teachers.
I have exceptional classroom management skills; I teach for mastery; and I have positive expectations for student success. I present information so that my students think critically and then problem solve.
