I love teaching the elementary grades, and I love changing it up. So, I don't mind changing grade levels- it keeps me learning. Education cycles itself in a continuous circle. The challenges and blessings presents itself in many ways. What a way to enjoy my career! I really do love teaching!
My school is a Title 1 school. The location of our transient school means the students do not come to you on level; & most have varying degrees of learning styles, behavior issues, & backgrounds. Our lessons consist of a variety of ways; hands-on, direct instruction, guided practice, independent practice, small groups, followed with RTI groups/or guided groups. We love to integrate technology into our plans daily. We also train our students into using technology throughout the days, so they too become very tech savvy by the end of the school year!
The best rewards of course is the small tokens of appreciation from our students; whether it was a torn note, or a small candle taken from home & wrapped in notebook paper. All, no matter how big a honor or not, were appreciated tokens of our dedications to our teaching careers.
I am considered as non-traditional educator because I had a late start in life with college. Our family came first!
I am proudly married to another great teacher! Together, we have a beautiful daughter & handsome son, beautiful daughter and son laws, and one smart and talented grandson. We share our home with our smart cat, that rules our large German Shepard. Poor Rex! We love to travel, however, we are very dedicated to our jobs, pets; and of course, and our our elderly family.
